India Gate

India Gate

At the centre of New Delhi is India Gate, an impressive archway that stands 42m tall in the middle of a crossroad.

Very similar to its French counterpart, the Indian Gate commemorates the 70,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives fighting for the British Army during the First World War.

Around 13,300 servicemen's names, including some soldiers and officers from the United Kingdom, are inscribed on the gate. This is a must-see for visitors wanting to learn more about the shared history of Britain and India.
