South Berks Concert Band on tour in The Rhineland

Last updated: May 2nd, 2023

Over the spring bank holiday, 36-member strong South Berks Concert Band set off on a band tour to the Rhineland, where they enjoyed four days of sun, socialising and outdoor performances.

This was the band’s fourth tour organised through Rayburn Tours and following another successful trip, this time in the heart of rural Germany, party leader, Mary Delaney, was delighted with how it went:

‘Everyone had a lovely time, in the sightseeing, the concerts and the socialising.’

The group spent their first day of the tour in the beautiful town of Rüdesheim, one of Germany’s most scenic wine regions. Brimming with rich culture, interesting history and beautiful vineyards, this stunning part of the Rhineland was a great place to start the tour.

After exploring the town and taking a cable car ride to admire the beautiful views, the group performed in the Rüdesheim Marktplatz and were graced with beautiful sunshine for their concert!

The following day, the group visited Koblenz, a historic city known as the gateway to the Rhine, before continuing on to Linz am Rhein for their next performance in the market square.

No tour to the Rhineland would be complete without a river cruise and so the group took a boat across to St Goar where they walked up to the Rhienfels castle before stopping off at a local café for lunch. The group then returned to Boppard for their final performance of the tour at Boppard Bandstand – a great way to end their Rhineland tour!
